About Me

While I could prattle on and on, I will only cover the skills sets pertinent to what you may be looking for. While I began my programming career with the natural progression of BASCIC/c/asm/c++/java then to the world of dynamically typed languages, I have chosen to specialize over the past decade. This specialty includes web and device application design.

Before you ask, I am not a web designer. If I were, this site would look infinitely more snazzy.. Snappy, etc. If you need a web designer, let me know. I will point you to some good ones.

My current skillset:

Ruby on Rails

I have spent several years developing ruby on rails web applications. From application design to deployment, I have been heavily involved in each stage.

Smalltalk / Seaside

Over the past few months, I have started to move more and more of my projects over to smalltalk and seaside. Not really a migration, but any new projects that come this way are moving to this framework. In the near future, I will write an article explaining why.

Objective-C/XCode

This is the framework and IDE used to write iPhone and iPad apps. Should you have any questions on this, please drop me a line privately, and we can talk.

System Administration

I have been running linux since it was installed via floppies (2 floppies!). I can help you set up network topography, get servers up and running, set up web hosts, and the like. I can also assist in troubleshooting any of the above.

Search Engine Optimization

While I do not dabble in black magic SEO shenanigans, I can help you make sure your site is properly optimized to assure that your marketing campaign are as fruitful as they can possibly be. Noticeably absent:

PHP

While it’s not that I have a personal grudge against this language, I just find that when I quote on a project developed in PHP, it inevitable ends up that the code maintenance is much more intensive than initially guessed.

If this is a really urgent project that needs to be quoted, we can make special arrangements.

Web Design

Once again, I am not a web designer. I work in tandem with several top notch designers, but in general, web design and web programming are two separate conversations. While I can speak the lingo of both sides, and help you communicate to your developer, I cannot provide designs.

Windows Workstations and Servers

For the most part, I specialize in development. This means that I have not had much hands on experience in the windows world in several years. If you have issues in this area, I can suggest a few people.
